Buenismo

This article critically aproaches the notion of "goodism" in the contemporary political field, by making a difference of their derogatory use by emerging right-wing groups. Based on critical reading, we argue that both goodism and emerging right-wing groups share the same structure moralizing the political arena, where social antagonism is reduced to a clash between competing forms of virtue or authenticity. We analyzse how goodism produces subalternized subjects, crystallized as morally unquestionable figures, thus helping to empty politics of its disruptive potential and to reinforce recognition regimes managed from the State itself. Meanwhile, we examine how emerging right-wing groups build their political identity at the expense of discrediting goodism representatives, without leaving behind the moralizing and aestheticizing political framework shared by both of these seemingly opposite ends. Therefore, this article advances the need to recover some political imagination challenging the conditions of possibility imposed by such moral regimes.
