NOVA announces the appointment of Dr. Ian James Martins to the Editorial and Scientific Committee
NOVA Journal, a scientific publication in biomedical sciences published by the Universidad Nacional Abierta y a Distancia (UNAD) and the Universidad Colegio Mayor de Cundinamarca, is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Ian James Martins as a new member of its Editorial and Scientific Committee.
Dr. Ian James Martins is a Senior Researcher at the Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care at Edith Cowan University (Australia). He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Western Australia and brings over 30 years of experience in endocrinology, metabolism, neurobiology, and chronic diseases. His contributions are reflected in more than 500 scientific publications and a renowned editorial trajectory, serving as Editor-in-Chief of several indexed biomedical journals and reviewer for more than 200 international journals, including Nature, PLOS ONE, MDPI, and Frontiers.
Among his awards and international recognitions are the Nobel Research Award 2024, the International Scientist Lifetime Achievement Award 2022, and the Richard Kuhn Research Award 2015, as well as inclusion in the global Top 1% of reviewers by Publons. His research has influenced the development of biomarkers for the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, nutritional therapy for diabetes and Alzheimer’s, studies on anti-aging genes and microbiota, and the scientific approach to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Martins’ participation in the NOVA Editorial and Scientific Committee will significantly strengthen the academic rigor and international reputation of the journal, enhancing the quality, visibility, and global impact of biomedical science.
