The multivalence of the Anthropocene and the climate change phenomenon increasingly emerge as narratives, diagnostics, and paradigms of contemporary world with more intensity. This article makes a brief overview of some background, sharing a state of the art inevitably partial and incomplete on their main interpretative trends. We address the depictions provided by the Anthropocene sciences, to share the theoretical and political critiques converging in the field of eco-Marxism. Then, we collect vital materialisms by Jane Bennett, Bruno Latour, Anna Tsing, and Donna Haraway. In the concluding sections, we discuss some ethnographic and political experiences on what was labeled as «animism» in the late 19th century. The main hypothesis is that by drawing from a combination of political and epistemological possibilities of this set of approaches, a quest for languages, narrative strategies, and methodological protocols would be in the making to deal with the climate crisis and the Anthropocene.
