Radical feminism in Colombia: Challenges for a Cultural Change to Advocate for Men's Rights

Feminismo radical en Colombia: desafíos para una transformación cultural que reivindique los derechos del hombre

Cases of domestic violence against men raise questions about the various causes leading to this type of violence and the distinct challenges to fight men's rights misrepresentation. This research work aims to evaluate the impact of radical feminism in Colombia and, under that light, to assess its impact in the municipality of Tocancipá, Cundinamarca, as well as the historical, anthropological, and regulatory background to better understanding the incidence of gender violence and advocating for men's rights defense.

We analyzed scholarly works and legal provisions disclosing social, biological, or legal perceptions promoting a culture under which legal complaints from are limited and the incidence of domestic or gender violence is growing.

Meanwhile, the evolution of feminism through its various waves has provided a deeper understanding of the social, educational, political and family background that gave rise to the fight for women's rights in the 15th and 16th centuries. Likewise, it has allowed us to examine how these struggles were distorted during the second feminist wave and, more recently, in the third wave. This has provided a clearer outlook of this movement's development and its incidence on gender violence against men in terms of social dynamics.
